BONUS EPISODE 11 - "STAR TREK 2009"

After five miserable years lying dormant, the Trek franchise was jolted back into pop culture relevancy with the launch of J.J. Abram's flashy and stylish reboot in May of 2009. The highest grossing series installment at the time of its release (not taking inflation into account), the picture brought many new fans into the fold and instantly made the property's future seem oh so bright. The question is, then, does it still hold up six years later? Hosts Cam Smith and Tyler Orton, along with guests Julia Dilworth and Jamie Davies, are on hand to find out, as they examine the popular entry from both a fan's perspective as well as a non-fan's. Does the flick still work as popcorn entertainment? Was Abrams the right man for the job? How efficiently does it re-establish the characters and world we love so dear? Find out on this very special podcast deep dive into the controversial lens flare-happy box-office hit.

EPISODE 43 - "PERILS OF THE TRANSPORTER"

EPISODE 42 - "WHEN STAR TREK DOES COMEDY"

As a franchise, Star Trek does many things brilliantly, but is comedy one of them? This week hosts Cam Smith and Tyler Orton, along with special guest Nick Eagland, celebrate the most hilarious moments to ever grace the screen, from tribbles to Mirror Universe hijinx, and everything in between. In addition to the varied assortment of chuckles, guffaws and chortles, the trio also strive to determine whether Worf or Data is the superior TNG comic relief, which series is the funniest and exactly why the writers often inspired groans (helloooo Insurrection!") while grasping for laughs. Plus, just because we appreciate your listenership, Tyler fan-casts the Ferengi heroes of "The Magnificent Ferengi" as Avengers. And that's no joke!

BONUS EPISODE 10 - "STAR TREK: NEMESIS"

When it was released on December 13, 2002, the TNG crew's fourth and final cinematic endeavor, Nemesis, was pretty much an insta-flop, both critically and commercially, and killed the franchise's big screen aspirations for several years. However, in this week's special Film Flashback episode, hosts Cam Smith and Tyler Orton, along with returning guest Tony Geluch, place the Enterprise E's climactic voyage under the movie microscope, and strive to determine the project's redeeming qualities and whether it deserves all of the hate so often hurled it's sorry way. Where does Tom Hardy's Shinzon rank in the realm of Starfleet-loathing villains? How does Stuart Baird fare as a series newbie director? Are the actors given intriguing and fresh material to play? And how satisfyingly does the flick bid adieu to this beloved cast? We answer all of these questions, and so many more, in this, our swan song spin across the silver screen with Picard, Riker, B-4 and all of your beloved Trek faves!
